Cape.Com Donates DSL to Cape Cod Community Media CenterDecember 5, 2001
(Mashpee, MA) The Cape Cod Community Media Center, formerly known as C3TV, is the latest non-profit Cape organization to be the lucky recipient of donated DSL internet access. In addition to high-speed DSL, Cape.Com has agreed to provide the local cable community television station with gratis website hosting and email services as well. “We are thrilled with the level of support Cape.Com is providing the Media Center,” said Terry Duenas, Executive Director of the Cape Cod Community Media Center. “Not only is it great to be able to partner with such a top-notch technology company, but the services Cape.Com is providing are critical to increasing our understanding of the ways in which visual communications media is evolving.” Duenas said the new high-speed connection provided by Cape.Com will enable his organization to explore the possibility of providing new training and/or access services to its member communities. “Cape.Com is a fantastic example of how local businesses can extend themselves to partner with non-profit organizations,” said Duenas, “the happy result of these partnerships is that we can work together to give something back to the communities in which we all live and work.” According to Duenas, the Media Center had sought high-speed internet access from several providers prior to “striking gold” with Cape.Com. “We’ve known for quite a while that we needed high-speed Internet access in order to explore the possibility of expanding the scope of our services,” said Duenas, “but, we were unable to find a provider that could provide us with service until Cape.Com came to the rescue.” "It's a win-win situation. We have always been highly aware of the impact of local community television, and have supported Falmouth Community TV for several years now. Cape.Com is pleased to embark on such a partnership with the Media Center", said Suzanne Cosgrove, Director of Marketing. The Cape Cod Community Media Center, located at 307 Whites Path in South Yarmouth, serves as the media education and technology resource for the communities of Barnstable, Chatham, Dennis, Harwich and Yarmouth. The Media Center serves its member communities in a number of ways, including managing local cable access Channel 17 (which is viewed in 55,000 households from Barnstable to Chatham), providing access to video cameras and editing equipment, and offering video production education and training to individuals and groups. Media Center membership and course offerings are open to residents of the five-town area of Barnstable, Yarmouth, Dennis, Harwich and Chatham.
