Falmouth Technology Park Strengthens its Voice with Cape.Com

The Falmouth Economic Development and Industrial Corporation (EDIC), continuing its efforts to promote a beneficial environment for technology companies, has chosen Cape.Com to install and maintain a wireless network within the Falmouth Technology Park. The network will make high-speed Internet service available to all businesses within the Park.

In making its decision, the Falmouth EDIC recognizes that Cape.Com's reliable, fast Internet service is a necessary infrastructure for the Park if it hopes to attract and retain technology companies. "Businesses assume there will be reliable roads, sewer and water service in an industrial park," said Tom Campbell of Dinkum Software, a consultant for the Falmouth EDIC. "High tech businesses assume quality Internet service will be available."

"We're very excited about this project," said William A. Rapp, Vice President of Cape.Com, Inc. "This will be a state-of-the-art, wireless network that will provide businesses with a robust, secure, and relatively low cost connection into the Internet." The wireless network will be operating by the end of March.

The design calls for an 11Megabit wireless network, operating in the 2.4 Gigahertz range. Cape.Com plans to connect the Park with a digital leased line. Each business will connect to the network using a radio antenna mounted on its facility. The antennas will transmit and receive data via an omni-directional antenna mounted on top of the Park's 200 foot water tower.

Established in 1995, Cape.Com is the only locally owned and operated Internet Service Provider that offers a full range of Internet services. They specialize in providing e-commerce, website design, and Wide Area Network (WAN) services. They currently provide WAN network installation and support to nearly 100 businesses throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and dial-up Internet access to over 3,000 customers throughout New England.
