Windows 2000 Manual Configuration
This document provides instructions for obtaining point-to-point protocol (PPP) Dial-up Internet access through your Cape.Com account. Logging Into Windows Log into the Windows 2000 workstation as Administrator. Setting Up Dial-Up Connection Click on the start button, select Settings > Control Panel. Select the radio button next to "Dial-up to the Internet" then click the Next button. Select "I want to set up my Internet connection manually" then click on the Next button. Select "I connect through a phone line and a modem" then click on the Next button. In the Internet Connection Wizard window, leave the area code field blank. In the telephone number field enter the area code and "local Access number" for Cape.Com. Use our Dial Up Number Finder. Select United States of America (1) from country/region name and code field. Make sure the "Use area codes and dialing rules" box is unchecked. Click on the Next button. Enter your Cape.Com account name in User name field. (Warning: Do not add the "@cape.com" portion in the User name or the login procedure will fail). Enter your cape.com account password in password field (this is case sensitive). Then click on the Next button. In the Connection name field enter cape.com (it may also ask for the Local Access Number that you selected earlier). Click on the Next button. When asked to Set Up Your Internet Mail Account select No and click on the Next button. Make sure the box next to "To connect to the Internet immediately..." is checked then click on the Finish button. A Dial-up connection window should appear. Verify that the username and password is correct. If you want to save your password so you do not have to enter it again, check the Save password box. Click on the Connect button. Your computer is now configured to dial into Cape.Com.
