Automatic Timeout Service
For your convenience, Cape.Com has developed an automatic timeout service for your dial-up connection, should you forget to disconnect or leave your computer inactive for a period of time. This service allows you to significantly reduce and perhaps avoid the additional per hour charges that are not included in your Dial-up access plan (Virtually Unlimited or Pro). There are two ways your connection may incur an automatic shut off: an Idle Timeout and a Session Timeout. An Idle Timeout occurs when your computer system has had no activity within a span of 30 minutes. A Session Timeout occurs when a period of 8 hours of consistent connectivity has been reached, i.e., 9 am - 5 pm. These timeouts will automatically take place without any effort on your part. You can customize your idle timeouts by clicking the link below. Should you require different session timeout periods, our tech support team can customize them for you on a per user basis.
