What Are Associate Users?

An associate user is an additional user added onto a Cape.Com account. Associate users have their own user name, their own password, and their own distinct email address. An account manager (the initial user who set up the account) may add as many associate users as he or she wishes.

What Are The Charges?

• There is a $2 charge per month per each associate user. However, with Virtual Hosting, you may add 5 associate users before incurring the $2 charge per associate user, and with Enhanced Virtual Hosting, you may add 50 associate users before incurring this charge.
  
  
• The time an associate user spends on-line counts toward the account manager's monthly usage.
  
  
• If more than one user on the same account is logged in at the same time, the overlap time is charged an additional $1/hr (to the nearest second). If you would be logged in simultaneously quite a bit, you may want to purchase a simultaneous login.
  
  
  • Each simultaneous login (simul) costs $5/month for Basic and Virtually Unlimited accounts, $8/month for Pro accounts.
    
    
  • Each simul allows one additional user on the same account to be logged in at the same time without incurring the $1/hr overlap charge. For example, an account manager with two associate users, who wanted all three to log in at the same time without incurring overlap charges, would need to purchase two simuls.
    
    
  • At any time the account manager can check simultaneous login usage to make sure that simultaneous logins are being managed in the most cost-effective manner.

How Do I Add An Associate User?

• Click on the link labeled "On-Line Accounting" from any page on our site, and login with your Cape.Com user name and password.
• Login with the account manager's username and password.
• Click Add Associate User.
• Enter the associate user's Real Name, a Requested User Name, a Password, then click Submit Associate User Info.

Need More Connect Time for Your Associate Users?

• Often, in larger companies or organizations, several users need to connect at one time, and it becomes more efficient to establish these associate users with their own dialup account. The benefit of a separate Associate Dialup is that the user gets their own block ot time (150 hrs. for Virtually Unlimited and 350 hrs. for Pro Plan), while being billed under the master account at a discounted rate (lower than having a standalone dialup account.) The fee for an Associate Dialup account under a master dialup account is $15/mo. for Virtually Unlimited (150 hrs/mo.) and $20/mo. for Pro (350 hrs/mo.), plus the standard $2/mo. associate charge. Hosting customers with associates included in their plan need not pay the additional $2/mo. standard associate plan. For example, say you had a Pro dialup plan, and 2 Associate Users who required 350 hrs/mo. of their own connect time. The final cost would be $24/mo. for the Pro plan, and $20 each for the 2 additional dialup users, and $2 each for the associate user charges = $68. Now, if you had a domain (website) hosted with Cape.Com, and wanted the Pro dialup plan, with 2 Associates Dialup users, the cost would be just $64, since your hosting plan already covers the cost of your monthly associate fees. Anything Else To Keep In Mind?

• Whenever possible, account managers should handle maintaining their associate accounts, such as adding and deleting these accounts, changing passwords, and adding services such as web sites to these accounts as desired. We will be happy to help, but if an associate user calls, please be aware that we will need to get the account manager's permission before making any changes on the account.
  
  
• If you and your associate user will be using the same computer, the easiest way to check more than one email address on the same computer is to add User Profiles to Netscape Communicator, or adjust the Receive/Check Email options if using another email program. Other options: the associate user can check mail using Webmail, or, you can install and configure another mail program on your computer for the associate user.
