Spoof or Phish Emails
Another type of spam is called "spoofing" or "phishing". The sender will look to be a perfectly legitimate address, however, in reality it is far from that. Usually, the bad folks who send these type of emails have 2 goals in mind -- getting your highly confidential information like credit cards, passwords, etc., or ruining your system with a virus. Not fun! How to protect your personal informationIt's very simple. Don't ever reply to such an email with your personal information. Legitimate companies know not to request such information via email, and they will also not link you to a web page so that you can fill in that information. How to Avoid Viruses from Spoofed EmailsFirst and foremost, you should always have an up-to-date virus protection software on your computer. This is vital these days. Secondly, never open an attachment that you are suspect of. A good rule of thumb is if you didn't request the attachment or the email, be wary of opening it.
