Automatic Blocklist Mail Filter
As part of our on-going effort to stem the tide of spam, Cape.Com has implemented several filters on our mail servers. These filters look at where an email originates and discards those messages which come from well-known sources of spam, contain viruses, or originate from incorrectly configured mail servers. Please note that Cape.Com's free Spam and blocklist filters can be activated, de-activated and controlled through your Cape.Com Webmail. See instructions below. If you need to contact us but our system rejects your attempts, please use our website contact form(http://www.cape.com/sqerl/contact.ccml) to contact us. We use a number of public databases on the Internet to determine if a mail server is blocklisted or incorrectly configured. Current statistics indicate that more than 25% of incoming mail during the day is from blocklisted machines. At night and early morning, more than 50% of the incoming mail is from blocklisted machines. Obviously, this large amount of junk email puts quite a strain on everyone's system, and is very time-consuming and unnecessary for the individual user. Our Blocklist filter significantly helps curb this junk email before it clogs your system. More information on these databases can be found at: We recognize that, occasionally, legitimate mail will be inadvertently snagged by this filter. If you were referred to this page because mail that you sent was rejected by our servers, please contact sysop@cape.com, and we will forward an archived copy of the mail to the intended recipient. Please be sure to include your address, the recipient's address, and the approximate time that the email was sent. If you need to contact us but our system rejects your attempts, please use our website contact form(http://www.cape.com/sqerl/contact.ccml) to contact us.
This "blocklist filter" is enabled, by default, for all of our Cape.Com users. If you find that this filter is snagging email which you wish to receive, you can disable it, either for particular "from" addresses or completely, using WebMail. Log into Webmail and choose the Blocklist filter tool from the pull-down list in the upper portion of the screen, and view your list of blocklisted email. Cape.Com maintains a record of all email attempted within the past 14 days that has been refused by the blocklist filter. Only those days when mail was rejected will be offered for viewing. If a date is not listed, then no emails were rejected on that day. Should you see an email that you wish to receive, check the box, and move this email into your InBox. If you would like future emails from this address to bypass the blocklist filter, press the Filters button at the top. Here you can specifically manage email sent from certain addresses, and choose whether they go straight to your inbox, junkbox, trash, etc. You may opt to shut off the Blocklist filter for your username altogether but keep in mind that, by disabling the blacklist filter completely, you may receive an increased amount of unsolicited email. Incoming email, as it's processed by our servers, is now sent through the following filters in the order below, before being placed in your InBox: 1. Blocklist Filter - by default, email from blocklisted servers is rejected. The sender is notified that the email has not been accepted. User may disable this filter. Please contact support@cape.com if you need help customizing a filter for your email address.
