WebMail: A Browser-Based Email System

WebMail, it's just another one of those critical services that makes life on the road so much easier.

WebMail is a free, browser-based interface to your mail residing at Cape.Com. This document includes information about WebMail through Version 2.3. For information about Version 3 and above, see the related link below.

There's no need for a custom setup of an email program like Eudora, Outlook Express or Netscape Mail. All you need is access to a plain 'ole browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator which is connected to the Internet.

With WebMail, you simply log in with your username and password to gain access to both your main and junk mailboxes. Once logged in, you can easily compose new messages, reply to emails received, forward them and selectively delete them. The listing page for your messages features a customizable layout, displaying 5-50 messages per page and showing the newest or oldest email first, your choice. It also displays a handy document size field, so you can detect any large attachments straight away.

An exciting feature of WebMail is that it supports HTML messages, so you will see the intended design, layout and color of the email, rather than a string of unrecognizable programming code. WebMail also supports the sending and receiving of attachments.

To view your junk box, simply log into webmail and select "junkbox" from the drop down menu. Your junk mailbox includes the option to move messages from your junkbox into your regular mailbox, and allow further messages from a particular email address to bypass your custom spam filters. This way, you can conveniently refine your spam filter in the moment, without having to logout out of WebMail and log into On-line Accounting later.

Cape.Com's WebMail is not meant to be a fully functional mail program and doesn't include personal settings such as mail folders or address books. If you want to have a copy of your sent messages using WebMail, remember to copy yourself in on the outgoing email.
