WebMail 3 - Full Featured Email System
Our latest WebMail program, Version 3, contains a number of advanced features that you, our users, have requested, including: A direct link to WebMail 3 can be found under the 'E-Tools' section on our splash (new home) page, or in the top right of our portal page. Cape.Com's free email services - Mail backup recovery, virus scanning, blocklist filtering, and SpamNabber - have been integrated into WebMail to give you a complete and transparent view of your email. Version 3 is a full-featured email program which is accessed using a browser. You have your own dedicated storage for incoming and outgoing messages as well as for custom items like your address book and calendar. Please note that Version 3 of WebMail is significantly different from our prior versions. Prior versions of WebMail were light functioning mail programs; they simply provided a window to the mail that was available on the Cape.Com mail servers. Because of these differences, please read the following details. It will help you understand the operation of our latest version of WebMail.
The 'Display List' feature is now called 'Refresh' - 2 green circular arrows. Click Refresh to display an updated list of mail. 2. In order to delete mail from the mail server while in WebMail, move that mail to the Trash folder, then empty the Trash. 3. The Trash folder is automatically emptied when you end/logout from each WebMail session. Therefore, it is not necessary to go to the Trash folder and explicitly empty the Trash; simply logout from the WebMail session. 4. Mail that is caught by our various filters is placed in the appropriate WebMail folder; VirusScan, Blocklist, and Junk. These folders are located in the drop-down menu below the Inbox. On a nightly basis, mail in these boxes is automatically trimmed to no more than 200 messages or messages which are no more than 20 days old, whichever is less. You are welcome to review mail in these boxes and delete them. However, it's not a requirement since this mail is automatically trimmed. 5. The Filters button in the Webmail 3 toolbar allows you to manage your SpamNabber and Blocklist filters -- you may choose to Include (receive) email To/From a specific address or with a specific subject word, Exclude (reject) email and determine which folder such filtered mail is delivered. 6. The RecoverMail folder contains a backup of all mail you have received in the last 30 days. The RecoverMail folder is located in the drop-down menu below the Inbox. Please keep in mind that we do not back up mail which is larger than 2 MBytes. You can use the powerful search features of WebMail 3 to find the mail you need to retrieve. 7. You have a storage limit in WebMail of 20 MBytes, to store mail in your InBox, Sent, and other custom folders. Mail that resides in the RecoverMail, VirusScan and Blocklist folders does not count against this storage quota. If the Quota is exceeded, the oldest email messages in your InBox, Sent folder, and custom folders will be deleted to bring the storage within Quota. Please contact Cape.Com if you require more than 20 Mbytes of WebMail storage. 8. Take some time to investigate the various ways you can customize WebMail 3 by clicking on the Preferences button at the top.
