Email Security And Virus Detection

Virus detection mechanisms employed at CapeCom are intended to provide a first line of defense against computer viruses that may be attached to email sent to our customers. While these measures detect and trap the majority of problem attachments, Cape.Com, Inc. cannot guarantee that all email will be free of viruses. It is the responsibility of our customers to protect against computer viruses. Cape.Com, Inc. will provide information and updates concerning new computer viruses as we become aware of them, however, virus detection and repair of your computer is up to you.

Virus Detection

Cape.Com, Inc. does not filter incoming messages sent to our customers, and, without a court order, will not read, copy or in any way tamper with incoming messages. Instead, our system scans the email headers of messages looking for patterns that would indicate that a virus is attached to the message. If a virus pattern or signature is found, the message is transferred to the customer's "junk" mailbox.

Junk Mailboxes

If a virus pattern or signature is found in an incoming message, our system automatically transfers the message to the customer's "junk" mailbox, secured with the customer's username and password. Users can check and delete the contents of their junk mailbox at anytime using Cape.Com's Webmail.
