T1 Connections offered by Cape.Com

A T1 connection is a dedicated, 'always on', very high-speed connection to the Internet. T1s are appropriate for supporting many simultaneous users and/or applications and web-related activities that are considered mission critical (for example, e-commerce, file-sharing, and business communications). They can also be used to efficiently link several offices to each other through a wide-area network (WAN).

T1s are the fastest and most reliable connection offered by Cape.Com, and the preferred solution for businesses where the Internet plays a major role in their day-to-day activities.

Currently, Cape.Com offers several choices of bandwidth over a T1 circuit throughout all of Eastern Massachusetts - 384Kbit, 512Kbit, 768Kbit, or 1.5Mbit. The 512K and 768K speeds can burst to 1.5Mbit. Unlike DSL and ISDN, there are no distance limitations for installing a T1 line. Custom higher bandwidth plans are available at 3M, 4.5M and 6M; please inquire about rates and provisioning.

Cape.Com works with major telecom carriers such as AT&T and Verizon to provide our customers with highly reliable, robust connections at extremely competitive prices. These T1 services and prices are not available directly through AT&T or Verizon. All service levels require a one or two-year contract.*

Unlike other carriers, all our rates include local loop and bandwidth charges, as well as sales tax and port fees. Please note: T1 connections are considered a 'Class A' service. Response time for line failures (problems beyond Cape.Com's control) is 5 hours, and 10 hours if a dispatch is required. By contrast, response time for line failures on DSL circuits is 72 hours. If your connection to the Internet is absolutely mission-critical, a T1 connection is the preferred solution.

Hardware Required

You can purchase a router and CSU/DSU (for connecting the router to the T1 circuit) from Cape.Com, and we will preconfigure the equipment for your site. You may also choose to supply your own equipment, however, please check with Cape.Com first to verify compatibility.

* T1 services through Cape.Com require a one or two-year contract committment. The circuit can be moved to another location during the contract, however, a $1000 reinstall fee applies. Cancellation of the circuit after one year requires written notice and the payment of an early termination fee (50% of the monthly rate multiplied by the number of months remaining in the contract). Cancellation of less than 1 year requires full contract payment.

** The new line fee does not include onsite installation services which may be necessary depending on the circumstances at each location, and are charged at $100/hr.
